Woodlawn's Senior Adult Ministry
Today's churches, like today's world, are rich with "Over Sixty" persons. Woodlawn Baptist Church loves Senior Adults! In a very real sense, Seniors are the church--busy and involved in every aspect of the life and ministry at Woodlawn. Woodlawn's Senior Adult Ministry endeavors to reach out to Woodlawn members, their friends, and others in the community, with meaningful fellowship each month which speaks to the world of mature Christians. This ministry is planned and led by the Senior members of our church, with guidance from our staff ministers.
Mrs. Willene Park is the Senior Planning Group leader. She brings to this ministry a background in nursing and geriatric care, as well as a personal dedication to the Lord, his church, and his people. She will be happy to answer your questions you can contact her at 892-2346 or willP1@aol.com .

(Bring baked items to room M-102 on the day of the auction, please.) The Auction will be in room M-102 (across from the dining room) and will be open for bidding by 10:00 a.m. Come prepared to bid and buy. Money raised will pay for our "Second Thursday" luncheons and speakers.
December 8, 2011: Better be good, because Santa is coming! Get your picture made with Santa this year. We'll have a ham dinner, and Christmas music. Bring side dishes to compliment ham. Guests are always welcome.

-"Helping Hands" Ministry-
Often older adults have special needs which can easily be met by friends who know and care. "Helping Hands" matches folks with a need with folks who can help. Call the church office if you have light household or yard work, or home repairs. Also if you need transportation or computer assistance. Phone: 442-7858. Explain your need, and your call will be directed to someone who can provide help.
-Weekly Table Games-
A long-standing group meets every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the church parlor to play dominoes, Skip-Bo, and other favorites. Snacks and conversation add to the fun. Everyone is welcome! Contact person for games is Wanda Broddrick (444-7676). Games tables are also up each Second Thursday luncheon day. Meet Dora Caudle and the group in the parlor at 9:00 am for all your favorite games and great fellowship.
-Retired Men's Coffee-
Another established and lively group are the men who gather for coffee and conversation every Thursday at 7:30 a.m. in M-103. Once a month they plan an out-to-eat event for breakfast or lunch. Everyone welcome! Contact person is Clyde Hammock (442-0705).
-Senior Adult Sunday School-
Always the heart of all we do is the Sunday morning time for Bible study and worship. Every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. Woodlawn provides three Senior Adult Sunday School Departments (Adults 4, 5 and 6), and two other departments with many Senior members (Fellowship Bible Class and Single Adults). If you are interested in visiting a class, give our Minister of Education, Lane Northcut, a call at 442-7858, and he will help you select a class. Van service is available to near-by areas on Sunday morning.
-Homebound Visitation Ministry-
About a dozen caring Woodlawn members make time each month to visit our frail elderly who are in homes or care facilities. Their visits serve to keep these persons in touch with their church, and to take appropriate Christian reading materials to them. These who have been faithful through their lives need not be forgotten or forsaken when health lessens. Contact person for this ministry is Janet Burton (447-5250). Names of persons needing our care are welcomed.
