The Pound Challenge Contest
to feed Austin’s Hungry
during the month of “CAN”uary!

This year, there will be three contests: one for the preschool and children’s division, one for the youth division, and one for the adult (includes college) division. Let’s see which Sunday School department can get the highest score in their division by collecting food and other related items for distribution to Austin’s hungry through our Baptist Community Center. One tenth of what we collect will go to the Texas Baptist Children’s Home in Round Rock. There will also be a prize for the overall winner!
Each week the total pounds brought by your department, divided by the average number of people present in your department, multiplied by 100, will determine your department's score.
NOTE: Each pound of items listed under “Canned Meats” and other items with an asterik on the food list will be counted as four pounds! Each pound of canned vegetables and fruit will count as two pounds!
Gallon cans and sacks of flour, sugar, beans, etc. over five pounds are more than the average family needs. Please bring items in the quantity that your family would use.
The Baptist Community Center, supported by Austin area Southern Baptist churches, helped well over 1,000 families with food this past year. In their total ministry, many decisions were made for Christ. The Pound Challenge is your opportunity to be a part of this vital ministry.
You and your department can help volunteer to sort food items. Contact the church office to sign up.
The contest ends at the conclusion of Bible Study on Sunday, January 31, with the results to be announced following 11:00 am worship.
